Oris Aquis New York Harbor Limited Edition II 01 733 7789 4187-Set
One billion reasons, part II
The Oris Aquis Date is a modern, versatile dive watch that delivers quiet luxury performance with a high level of fine-tuned sophistication. This Aquis New York Harbor Limited Edition II, was built for the ongoing Billion Oyster Project. It’s based on the 43.5mm Aquis Date and has an aqua green dial with a shimmering oyster-shell effect, as a nod to the Billion Oyster Project. It’s water-resistant to 30 bar (300 m) and limited to 2,000 numbered pieces.
In 2014, two local educators set up Billion Oyster Project with a hugely ambitious mission: to restore one billion oysters to New York Harbor by 2035. Oysters play a vital role in cleaning water – they are to oceans what trees are to forests. New York’s waterways were once home to 220,000 acres of oyster reefs, but they were decimated by pollution and over-fishing. Working with volunteers and local schools, the Billion Oyster Project has already restored 150 million oysters to the harbor and will continue to strive to improve the quality of the water around New York City.
